Profhilo vs Rejuran —
Hydration Or Repair

Profhilo vs Rejuran is not a contest between two brands but a choice between two jobs: Profhilo is hyaluronic acid that hydrates and firms thirsty, slackening skin, while the Rejuran skin booster is made of salmon-derived polynucleotides that support repair in damaged, reactive or textured skin. Neither is a filler. This guide is for anyone deciding between them, and it explains how Dr Sin Yong works out which your skin needs first.

How Each Works

Water, Or A Repair Signal

Profhilo is 64 mg of hyaluronic acid in a 2 ml syringe, half in long chains and half in short ones, bonded by heat rather than chemically cross-linked. Hyaluronic acid is the skin's own water-binding molecule. Without cross-linking, the gel does not hold a shape; it spreads from a few injection points through the surrounding tissue, hydrating it and prompting fibroblasts to make more collagen and elastin.

Rejuran contains polynucleotides, purified fragments of DNA from salmon. They add little volume or water directly. Instead they act on repair pathways: they support fibroblast activity and help calm the inflammation that keeps damaged skin rough and reactive. Rejuran is placed as many fine deposits in the dermis rather than at a few points.

So one is a hydration-and-firmness treatment and the other a repair treatment. Neither lifts a cheek, fills a hollow or defines a jawline, and both are described further on the skin boosters page.

Which Skin

Which Problem Suits Which

Profhilo fits thirsty, slackening skin: a face that has kept its shape but whose skin looks tired, dull and finely crinkled, often on the lower face and neck. Spread through the tissue, it gives a hydrated fullness at first and, over the following weeks, a modest gain in firmness. It is commonly considered from the late thirties onwards.

Rejuran fits skin that has been through something: texture left by acne, roughness around enlarged pores, sensitivity and redness, thin crepey skin under the eyes, or the wear of years of inflammation. It refines rather than plumps, and the change builds over the course rather than after one visit.

The overlap is narrower than advertising suggests. Profhilo will not settle reactive, damaged skin, and Rejuran will not restore bounce to skin that is mainly dehydrated and lax. If the real change is lost volume or descent, neither helps; that is a question for dermal fillers or lifting.

Using Both

Can They Be Combined?

Yes, but as a ranked decision rather than a default. Many faces show both thirst and damage, and the two treatments run as parallel courses, sequenced rather than stacked into one appointment. The assessment decides which problem to address first, usually the one that bothers you most and is most clearly present.

Combining means two full courses, each with its own maintenance, so it is planned with that in mind. Where looseness has gone beyond what better skin can hide, energy-based lifting is a separate step that no skin booster replaces.

How Atelier Decides

The Skin Is Examined First

Dr SY looks at your skin under good light and under gentle stretch, separating dehydration and loss of bounce from texture, redness and scarring, and both from lost volume. He asks about your skincare, sensitivity, acne history and any fish or seafood allergy. The plan names one treatment, both in sequence, or something else entirely, and your quote follows it, as how we quote explains.

Treatment waits during pregnancy and breastfeeding and over active infection or inflamed skin. Afterwards, keep to the plain routine in Profhilo aftercare or Rejuran aftercare. Infection and allergic reactions are uncommon, but a lump that grows or hardens, or redness that spreads, should be seen rather than left to settle.

FAQ

Profhilo vs Rejuran — Common Questions

Ask a Question
They are usually given at separate visits rather than together. Each has its own course and its own pattern of injection bumps, and keeping them apart makes it easier to see how your skin responds to each. When both are needed, Dr SY decides which comes first, normally the one addressing the change that bothers you most, and plans the second course around it.
Rejuran Healer is the name of the standard Rejuran preparation, used to improve skin quality across the face. The same maker produces other versions for particular uses, including Rejuran S, a denser preparation placed directly into scars. Whichever product is used, ask for its name to be written in your notes, because preparations differ in strength and in what they are designed to do.
For texture left after acne, Rejuran is usually the better match, because polynucleotides act on repair and inflammation rather than on hydration. It improves the quality of the skin gradually. Neither treatment lifts a tethered or pitted scar, which needs subcision, TCA CROSS or laser resurfacing, so scars are assessed separately and a skin booster is added only where it suits the plan.
Thin, crepey skin under the eyes is one of the areas where fine Rejuran injections are commonly used, and the change builds gradually across the course. Bruising is more likely there than elsewhere. Profhilo is placed at points over the cheekbone, near the nose, in front of the ear and along the lower face rather than in the lower lid. A hollow or a bulge under the eye is a different problem, assessed for tear trough treatment instead.
