The Triple LDM Deep Hydrofacial is Atelier Aesthetics' signature hydrofacial, built for skin that looks tired rather than dirty: tight after cleansing, dull by mid-afternoon, and quick to drink up moisturiser without looking any better for it. That pattern usually means the skin is short of water, not oil, and a facial that only cleanses will leave it where it started.

The treatment works through the familiar stages of a medical hydrofacial — cleansing, gentle exfoliation, extraction of congested pores, and hydration — with the emphasis placed on the last of these. Each step is adjusted to the skin on the day, so reactive skin is handled differently from congested skin.

Dr. Sin Yong assesses the skin before the treatment begins. That matters more than it sounds: the same facial that suits a dehydrated, congested complexion can aggravate one whose barrier is already broken, and deciding which is which is a clinical judgement rather than a menu choice.

Dehydrated skin and dry skin are not the same problem. One is short of water, the other of oil, and a facial built for one does little for the other.

Who it suits

• Skin that looks tired and flat after long hours, travel or air-conditioning
• Sensitised, reactive and redness-prone skin
• Congestion sitting alongside a compromised barrier, where ordinary extraction alone makes matters worse
• The few days before an event, when there is no time for downtime

Who it does not suit

Anyone looking for lifting, tightening or added volume. Those need a different category of treatment, and this does neither. It is also not a substitute for medical treatment of active acne or rosacea — it sits comfortably alongside them, but it does not replace them.

The session

Nothing is injected, so there is no recovery to plan around: makeup can go on the same day. A single session before an event is enough to see the difference. For persistently dehydrated skin, a short course followed by maintenance works better, with the interval set by Dr. Sin Yong after seeing your skin.
