Profhilo is placed at five points on each side of the face, and each point leaves a small raised bump until the gel spreads. Aftercare is mostly a matter of leaving those points alone. The written instructions Dr Sin Yong gives you on the day come first.
When you leave there is a raised bump at each point, with mild redness and tenderness. The bumps are the gel itself and flatten as it disperses; see Profhilo at Atelier.
While It Spreads
Bruising and tenderness settle over the next few days. How this looks, and when you can be seen, is on Profhilo downtime.
Skin And Sun
Your usual skincare can normally restart once the points have closed (for retinoids, see the questions below). Use sunscreen every day, and keep any bruise covered or under sunscreen: in skin types III to V, sun on a bruise can leave a brown mark.
Everyday Life
Exercise and heat. Walking and light exercise are fine from the next day. Hard exercise, hot classes, saunas, steam and alcohol wait at least 24–48 hours, and until the bumps have flattened and any bruise has stopped spreading.
Make-up. Once the entry points have closed and the bumps have flattened, apply it lightly over intact skin without rubbing, and remove it gently. Cover a bruised point with a little concealer rather than brushed-in foundation.
Safety
Flattening bumps, mild redness, tenderness, brief swelling and small or pinpoint bruises are expected. These are not.
Call or WhatsApp +65 8023 7170 at once. If you cannot reach the clinic, or it is outside clinic hours (Monday to Saturday, 11:00–20:00), go to the nearest hospital emergency department. Hyaluronidase, which dissolves hyaluronic acid, is kept at the clinic. See vascular occlusion warning signs.
Send a photo. A lingering lump is examined, not massaged.
Go directly, or call 995. The same signs apply if your Profhilo was given elsewhere. More on complication care.
