Rejuran Downtime —
Dotted Today, Settling Tomorrow

Rejuran's marks can be more noticeable than those of a hyaluronic acid booster: an even pattern of small raised papules wherever it was placed, with redness and sometimes a pinpoint bruise. They typically settle within a day or two, and the change in your skin comes later. Dr Sin Yong judges that change at follow-up, so read these timings as a guide.

A typical pattern; yours may differ. What to do in each phase is on Rejuran aftercare, and the treatment itself is on Rejuran at Atelier.

Typical recovery after Rejuran; timing varies
WhenWhat you may noticeMost people can
Day 0Small raised papules across the treated area, dozens when the cheeks, forehead and temples are all treated, with redness, warmth and slight tightness. Pinpoint bleeding stops before you leave. The skin may look pale and feel numb for a while.Carry on with a quiet day; there is no dressing. Leave photographs, close-up meetings and heat until the papules have flattened.
Days 1–3The papules typically settle within 24 to 48 hours, and in many people they are mostly flat by the next morning. Redness fades alongside them. A pinpoint bruise may show, more often under the eyes.See people at work and socially. Wear make-up once the points have closed and the papules have flattened.
Days 4–7The papules have gone before any bruise has finished fading. Bruising after an injectable usually settles within 3–7 days; under the eyes it can spread into the lower lid before it clears.Cover a bruise with a colour corrector under a light base.
Week 2 onwardsFaint roughness or a few remaining points can last longer in some people; the timing varies.Return for the next session, usually two to four weeks after this one.
When results showTexture and hydration change gradually across a course of three to four sessions, not on the day.Have the change judged at the follow-up visit.

Work And Social Life

2. Work And Social Plans

There is no dressing, so what others may see is the dotted pattern and its redness, mainly on the day of treatment. If you meet people close up or work on camera, book the session before a quiet day, as many people do.

Under the eyes, papules show more and a bruise is more likely, because the skin there is thin and its small vessels lie close to the surface.

Slower Recovery

3. What Can Keep The Marks Longer

  • Thin skin. The last papules to clear are usually on thinner skin, and under the eyes they show more.
  • Blood thinners and fish oil. Both make bruising more likely; mention them before your visit, and never stop a prescribed medicine without asking the doctor who prescribed it.
  • Heat. Redness lasts longer with heat, so until the papules have settled, skip saunas, hot water on the face, alcohol and hard workouts.
  • Pressure. Rubbing or massaging the area, or sleeping face-down on it.
  • Strong actives too soon. Retinoids, exfoliation and facials before your skin feels ordinary again.

Events And Travel

4. Planning Around Events

Rejuran shortly before an event gives you the papules without the later change in texture and hydration. The course is usually three to four sessions at two- to four-week intervals, so for a wedding or a photo shoot, plan the dates with Dr SY well ahead.

Leave enough time after the last session for any bruise to fade, and more if the under-eye area is part of the plan. Flying is usually fine once the papules have settled.

FAQ

Rejuran Downtime — Common Questions

Ask a Question
Topical anaesthetic is usually applied before the injections, and it can leave the skin looking pale and feeling numb for a while after you leave. That wears off on its own. The redness around each point comes from the needle rather than from the product, and it fades as the papules settle, typically within 24 to 48 hours.
Because the two are placed differently. Profhilo goes in at five points on each side and spreads from there. Rejuran is placed as many fine deposits through the dermis, so a full face can show dozens of papules. Each settles as the product is absorbed, usually within a day or two.
Once the papules have flattened and the redness has faded, which for many people is by the next morning and typically within 24 to 48 hours. A bruise, if one appears, takes longer and can be covered with a colour corrector under a light base once the points have closed. If the under-eye area was treated, allow extra time before close-up photographs.
Usually not. Some people notice faint roughness or a few remaining points for longer than the rest. What is different is a firm lump that stays after the others have dispersed, a blister, pustule or open area, or pain, redness or warmth that increases: send the clinic a photograph. A dusky, pale or blotchy patch is an emergency: call or WhatsApp the clinic straight away, and if you cannot reach it, or it is outside clinic hours, go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
