Am I Suitable For Profhilo? —
Skin, Not Shape

Profhilo suits skin that has become thin, dry, dull or finely crepey on a face that has otherwise kept its shape. Whether it suits you depends on which of those you have, and whether volume loss or loosening is the bigger change.

Short Answer

The Short Answer

Book a Consultation

You are a good fit if your complaint is the skin itself: crinkling when it is pressed, a tired surface, early fine lines, on the face, neck or backs of the hands. Profhilo holds no shape, so it gains little where the real change is a hollow, a softened jawline, pigment or pore size.

A cold sore, an acne flare, pregnancy or a recent treatment in the same area means waiting rather than refusal.

The Key Distinction

Crepey Skin Or Loose Skin?

Crepiness is a change at the surface. The skin has become thinner, drier and less springy, and it crinkles when pushed, but it still sits where it should. Laxity is a change in structure: the skin and the layer supporting it have loosened, so the jawline softens and jowls start to form.

Profhilo works on the first and does nothing for the second. Many faces show both, and then the order matters: lifting deals with the structure, for example with VF Lift – Vertical Facelift or HIFU, and Profhilo follows for the skin over it. If laxity is your main concern, you will be told plainly that Profhilo alone will not change it.

Profhilo Treatment

Where Profhilo Treatment Helps, And Where It Does Not

The clearest results tend to be on thin skin that ages early: the lower face, the neck and the backs of the hands (neck and hand revitalisation). Vertical neck bands come from muscle and are assessed separately; hands are checked for earlier filler first.

It gains little for:

  • Hollow cheeks, a flat bridge or a short chin, which need a material that holds shape (volume restoration).
  • A loose jawline or jowls, which need lifting.
  • Brown patches and large pores, which are laser questions (pigmentation removal).
  • A one-off result: the body's own enzymes break hyaluronic acid down, so the effect fades over months.

Waiting And Caution

Profhilo In Singapore: Who Should Wait

Most reasons to hold back are temporary; a short gap after another procedure lets each be judged on its own.

At Atelier

How This Is Assessed At Atelier

Dr Sin Yong looks at your skin under good light, stretches it and pinches it to judge thickness and recoil, and examines the face for volume loss and descent. He asks about earlier injectables, recent treatments, cold sores and your medicines.

The written plan says what is recommended, what is not, and that no treatment is an option. If Profhilo fits, the standard course at Atelier is two sessions four weeks apart, described on Profhilo at Atelier. If another skin booster suits better, skin booster suitability explains the alternatives, and Profhilo vs Rejuran compares the two most often confused.

FAQ

Profhilo Suitability — Common Questions

Ask a Question
You are likely to suit it if your skin has become crepey, thin, dull or dehydrated and the shape of your face is largely intact. It is a poor match for hollows, jowls, pigment or pore size, and for anyone expecting a lift or a once-only result. A cold sore, acne flare, pregnancy or recent treatment in the area means waiting. Dr SY decides at an examination and puts the reasoning in a written plan.
Often, but neither is decided automatically. Autoimmune disease, a history of severe allergy and a tendency to keloids are each assessed individually. Blood-thinning medicines and supplements such as fish oil raise the chance of bruising, so they are reviewed before the plan is agreed. Never stop a prescribed medicine yourself; ask the doctor who prescribed it. A known allergy to hyaluronic acid or any component rules Profhilo out.
After a short gap rather than straight away. Spacing lets the first treatment settle and be judged before another is layered on top, and avoids injecting skin that is still reacting. Dr SY sets the date in your plan according to what you had. Tell the clinic about treatment elsewhere, with the product and date.
The plan says so and explains why. If the skin needs repair rather than hydration, a polynucleotide booster may fit better; if volume has gone, filler or a biostimulator is discussed; if the jawline has loosened, lifting comes first. Sometimes the advice is simply to wait.
