Firm Filler · Jaw Angle And Border · Pacific Plaza
Jawline filler in Singapore means placing a firm filler deep along the jaw angle, the lower border of the jaw and the chin, so that a soft or short jawline reads as a clearer edge. At Atelier, Dr Sin Yong first works out whether the jaw has lost definition from bone and volume, from muscle bulk, or from tissue that has slipped, because only the first is a filler problem.
A jawline reads as sharp when there is a clean edge from the angle below the ear to the chin. That edge is the lower border of the jawbone, with skin, fat and muscle draped over it; when any layer changes, the line blurs.
With age the jawbone itself slowly resorbs, so the frame the soft tissue hangs on becomes smaller, while fat descends and skin loosens. Some younger people simply have a short or less angular jaw. Either way, jaw filler works by rebuilding the frame: a firm product placed on or close to the bone covering (the periosteum) at the angle, along the border and at the chin, and sometimes into the shallow groove in front of an early jowl.
A filler's stiffness (its G-prime) decides how well it holds shape against the chewing muscles. Firm hyaluronic acid (HA) gels, calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse) and polycaprolactone (Ellansé) hold it; softer gels spread.
Jawline filler does not slim a wide face or lift sagging tissue: muscle width is treated with jaw BTX, and a slipped jowl needs lifting.
At A Glance
The details below describe a typical plan. Yours is written after Dr SY has examined your jaw at rest, on clenching and in profile.
Who It Suits
Jawline filler tends to suit a jaw whose edge is soft because structure is missing, over skin that still has reasonable quality and with no more than mild to moderate descent. Typical reasons:
For men the aim is usually a squarer angle; for women, more often a line that tapers to the chin. The table shows how the causes of a blurred jaw are told apart.
| What is blurring the jaw | How it shows at examination | What usually helps |
|---|---|---|
| Missing bone or soft-tissue structure | A soft angle or border that is the same at rest and on clenching | Jawline filler, often with the chin |
| Masseter bulk | A firm bulge at the angle that hardens when you clench | Jaw BTX to slim the muscle; filler only for definition afterwards |
| Tissue that has slipped into a jowl | A heavy edge that lifts when the skin is raised by hand | Lifting first, such as the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift or a thread lift |
| Fullness under the chin | Pinchable fat, loose skin or neck bands below the border | Assessed as a double chin |
| Wide jawbone | A hard, fixed width that does not change on clenching | No injection narrows bone; a surgical opinion if it matters to you |
The Decision
Hyaluronic acid is firm enough in its structural forms and can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, so it is usually where someone new to filler starts. Radiesse and Ellansé hold a sharp edge on bone and prompt your own collagen around their particles over the following months, but neither can be dissolved, so they are placed in smaller amounts. How the three compare is set out in Radiesse vs Ellansé vs HA filler; the wider protocol is on volume restoration.
Lift first where the jowl is the main change. Volume placed below a slipped jowl makes it heavier. The VF Lift – Vertical Facelift, monopolar radiofrequency on the CLASSYS Volnewmer platform, or a thread lift, may come first, with filler reconsidered afterwards. Wait during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with an infection, cold sore or acne flare nearby. Talk it through first if you take blood thinners, have an autoimmune condition or keloid tendency, or have earlier filler of unknown type or silicone; old product is located before anything new goes in.

Recovery
The jaw is often tender, and chewing can ache for a few days because the product sits over working muscle. Swelling may settle unevenly between the two sides, which is not a reason to add more. Sleep on your back while it is tender, avoid pressing or massaging the jaw, and let dental work wait until the clinic agrees.
Day-by-day care is on dermal filler aftercare, or Ellansé aftercare if that was the product, and how you are likely to look is on dermal filler downtime.
Risks
Common: swelling, tenderness, bruising and early unevenness. Less common: lumps, asymmetry, infection, and product that drifts below the jaw edge over time, which blurs the very line it was meant to define. Radiesse and Ellansé cannot be dissolved, so a lump from either is examined and managed rather than reversed; see dermal filler complications.
Rare and serious: filler entering or pressing on a blood vessel. The facial artery crosses the lower border of the jaw just in front of the masseter, and that is the vessel this area's planning works around. White, dusky or mottled skin, or pain far beyond what the injection should cause, needs a doctor the same day; any change in vision is an emergency, so call 995 or go straight to a hospital emergency department. Hyaluronidase is kept on hand wherever HA is injected at Atelier. The full list is on vascular occlusion warning signs.
