Comparison
Surgery changes structure; non-surgical treatment changes tissue quality. Which is appropriate depends on how much laxity there is and why.
Surgery
Surgical vaginoplasty or perineal repair tightens the vaginal canal and entrance by removing or repairing stretched tissue and bringing the muscles together. It is done in theatre under anaesthesia, recovery takes several weeks, and intercourse is usually avoided for six to eight weeks. It suits marked laxity, a widened entrance after tears, or laxity combined with prolapse.
Non-Surgical
Radiofrequency, as in G Lift, warms the vaginal wall to tighten existing collagen and prompt new collagen. There is no incision or anaesthesia and most women return to normal activities the same day. It suits mild laxity and dryness, and change is gradual and more modest than surgery.

Choosing
An examination shows how much laxity there is, whether there is prolapse or a widened entrance, and whether the pelvic floor is weak. Dr. Sin Yong is an aesthetic physician with the Professional Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (RCPI); anything that needs a gynaecologist is referred.
