DEKA Academy 2026 —
Clinical Laser Training in Florence

Days one and two took place at Villa Donatello in Florence, where DEKA's clinical faculty led live demonstrations. Dr SY sat in on the lectures, took part in the demonstrations and received the same certificate of attendance as the other participants, issued by DEKA's Laser Training Department.

As a Key Opinion Leader, he also compared notes on settings with the faculty and engineers; DEKA uses these appointments to hear what physicians see in clinic.

Day one covered TORO and RedTouch PRO. TORO combines nanosecond Q-switched Nd:YAG at 1064 nm and 532 nm, a 785 nm picosecond wavelength and a long-pulsed 1064 nm thermal mode. RedTouch PRO is a fractional, non-ablative 675 nm laser with built-in cooling.

Day two was given to the SmartXide Tetra PRO, a 10,600 nm fractional CO2 laser used for both CoolPeel and deeper resurfacing. For Dr SY it was a check of his own depth and density choices for acne scarring against the faculty's. With a Florence physician who speaks for DEKA internationally, he also discussed combining RedTouch PRO and TORO in one plan.

The last day moved to Calenzano, just outside Florence, where El.En., DEKA's parent group, was founded in 1981. Hosted by Francesco Badii of the El.En. group, the visit took in the offices, the service centre and the showroom.

DEKA's clinical research team presented its work on the 2.45 GHz microwave energy behind Onda PRO. The certificate issued at the end names TORO, SmartPico, Onda PRO and RedTouch PRO, along with DEKA's CO2 lasers.

Four of the platforms covered in Florence are in use at Atelier: Tetra Pro CO2 in the Tetra Pro S³ acne scar protocol, TORO in pico laser treatment and T2 Frax Radiance, RedTouch Pro 675 nm in the Shaonu Guang laser, and Onda Pro in microwave body contouring.
