Dermal Fillers Singapore: Am I Suitable? —
Volume Is The Question

If you are weighing up dermal fillers in Singapore, suitability turns on one finding: whether volume is genuinely missing. This page sets out who filler tends to suit, who is asked to wait, and when a lift, a biostimulator or a different treatment is the better first step.

The Short Answer

You are likely to suit filler if an area has lost volume, or never had much, and the skin over it still springs back when pinched. Filler does not tighten loose skin, raise a jowl or soften a line that only appears when you move.

Some situations mean waiting, and some faces need something else first. Dr Sin Yong decides this at an examination, not from a photograph.

What Filler Answers

Volume Lost, Or Never There

The findings that point towards filler are structural: flattened temples or cheeks, a genuine tear-trough hollow, a chin that sits short, a low nasal bridge or thinned lips. Each has its own page: cheeks, temples, tear troughs, chin, nose and lips.

The material follows the tissue. Over bone, a firmer hyaluronic acid gel, calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse) or polycaprolactone (Ellanse) can give support. In thin or mobile skin, such as the lips and under the eyes, only soft hyaluronic acid is used, sometimes in a very small amount or not at all. See volume restoration. Filler can add height to a nose but cannot make it smaller.

Waiting And Caution

Dermal Fillers In Singapore: Who Should Wait

Most reasons to hold back are temporary, and nothing is lost by waiting.

How This Is Assessed At Atelier

Dr SY examines your face at rest and in movement, under good light, and pinches the skin to judge thickness and recoil. That separates missing volume from descended tissue and muscle movement. He asks about every injectable you have had, because earlier product changes what can safely be added.

Photographs are kept in your medical record only. The written plan names areas, material and depth, or says plainly that filler is not the right tool. Product goes in small amounts, and hyaluronidase is kept at the clinic. The treatment is on dermal fillers; risks are on dermal filler complications and vascular occlusion warning signs; quotes on how we quote.

FAQ

Dermal Filler Suitability — Common Questions

Ask a Question
Probably, if an area has lost volume or lacks projection and the skin over it still springs back. Filler is the wrong tool for loose skin, jowls and lines that only appear with expression. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, an infection or cold sore near the site, or a flare of acne or an autoimmune condition mean waiting. Dr SY confirms suitability at an examination, and the written plan may suggest less filler than expected, or none.
Age on its own decides very little. What matters is anatomy: how much bony and soft-tissue support is present, whether volume has really gone, and how well the skin recoils. A thirty-year-old with a short chin may suit filler, while a fifty-year-old whose main change is descent may need a lift first.
It is assessed case by case rather than refused outright. Filler is not placed during a flare, and timing is planned for a quiet phase. Tell Dr SY about the diagnosis, recent flares and every medicine you take. A prescribed medicine is never stopped without asking the doctor who prescribed it.
That follows the tissue, not the name of the area. Deep support over bone can take a firmer hyaluronic acid gel, or calcium hydroxylapatite or polycaprolactone, which cannot be dissolved and are placed conservatively. Thin, mobile skin takes only soft hyaluronic acid, which hyaluronidase can dissolve if needed.
