Time Freeze Laser LCLR Aftercare —
Sun Protection First

The Time Freeze Laser LCLR is Dr Sin Yong's laser protocol using long-pulsed 755 nm and 1064 nm energy. Downtime is minimal, and aftercare is light, with one firm rule: daily sun protection. This page covers that rule, the rest of the routine and the signs to send the clinic.

Day One

1. The First 24 Hours

Book a Consultation

You feel warmth in each zone as it is treated, and it fades within minutes of the session ending. Some redness may stay for a few hours, and most people return to work or social plans the same day. How the protocol is planned is on the Time Freeze Laser LCLR page.

Do

  • Put on a broad-spectrum sunscreen before you leave the clinic.
  • Cleanse gently with lukewarm water, then moisturise simply.
  • Wear make-up if you like, over the sunscreen.
  • Follow your written aftercare, which comes before this page.

Avoid

  • Saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and strenuous exercise on the day.
  • Very hot water on the face.
  • Pressing, massaging or repeatedly checking an area that feels tender.
  • Sun on unprotected skin, and any deliberate tanning.

The Days After

2. The Rest Of The Week

From the next day, normal life carries on, exercise included. Where fuller areas such as the jowls or under the chin were treated, the zone can stay tender for a short time and feel firmer for a little longer. Both settle on their own.

If your plan includes the VF Lift – Vertical Facelift alongside, Dr SY sets the timing; see VF Lift – Vertical Facelift aftercare.

Skin And Sun

3. Why The Sun Rule Matters

Your usual skincare can largely continue. Retinoids and strong exfoliants are fine while the skin feels calm; pause them only if it feels sensitive.

Sun protection is the part that counts. Melanin absorbs the 755 nm wavelength, and warmed skin reacts more readily, so ultraviolet light can set off post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, more often in Fitzpatrick III to V skin. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning from the day of treatment, reapply outdoors and add a hat on bright days.

Stay untanned before and between sessions, as a fresh tan can mean the next one is deferred. Melasma, vitiligo or cosmetic tattooing in a treated zone calls for stricter sun protection still.

Daily Life

4. Exercise, Heat And Make-Up

  • Exercise: skip strenuous sessions on the day; your normal routine resumes after that.
  • Sauna, steam and hot yoga: not on the day, for the comfort of tender zones.
  • Make-up: once your sunscreen is on.
  • The change itself: collagen keeps remodelling over 8–12 weeks, and the effect builds across your planned series.

When To Call

5. When To Contact The Clinic

Less often, a small crust or temporary darkening appears, more likely in darker skin or after sun; a burn, blister, lightening, scarring or more loss of fullness than intended is rare. Message the clinic on WhatsApp at +65 8023 7170 (Monday to Saturday, 11:00–20:00), with a daylight photograph if you can, if you notice:

  • a blister, crust, burn or open area;
  • swelling that persists or grows;
  • a patch that darkens or lightens;
  • pain that increases, or skin that feels hot and tight;
  • an area that looks more hollow than its neighbours after the soreness fades;
  • a fever, or anything getting worse.

Worsening symptoms, a blister or open area, or a fever need a same-day assessment; a burn or blister is managed by a doctor, not left to settle. Out of hours, for an emergency, go to the nearest hospital emergency department. See complication care for more.

FAQ

Time Freeze Laser LCLR Aftercare — Common Questions

Ask a Question
Because one of its two wavelengths, 755 nm, is absorbed by melanin, and freshly warmed skin reacts more readily. Ultraviolet light on that skin can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, a temporary darkening that is more likely in Fitzpatrick III to V skin. Sunscreen each morning, topped up when you are outside, a hat in strong sun and staying untanned keep that risk low.
Not usually. Retinoids and strong exfoliants can carry on as long as your skin feels calm. If it stings or looks irritated, pause them until it settles and keep to a gentle cleanser, a simple moisturiser and sunscreen meanwhile; if the retinoid was prescribed for you, check the pause with the doctor who prescribed it. Where your written aftercare says otherwise, follow it.
Often, yes. Tenderness tends to sit in fuller areas that were treated, such as the jowls or under the chin, and it settles on its own; firmness there can last a little longer. Avoid pressing it to check. Pain that increases rather than fades, or an area that looks more hollow than its neighbours once the soreness has gone, should be photographed and sent to the clinic.
Some tightening can show on the day, but that is only the start. Collagen remodelling continues over 8–12 weeks, and the change builds across the planned series. Photographs taken before your first session are compared with later ones in the same light, and Dr SY uses that comparison to decide what, if anything, comes next. Your photographs stay in your medical record and are never published.
